For those that are interested, here are two more car shows on LI that you might want to check out:
- Every Friday night at the Bellmore train station, a good collection of 70’s and older muscle cars. This one gets crowded.
- Some Fridays during the summer, the Massapequa train station’s lots get invaded with lots of cars. There’s usually enough cars there to warrant traffic control by the police – it’s a big show.
I’ve also heard of shows going on at Crooked Hill Road. I’ve never been there, but the All American Car Club hosts their “Saturday Night Cruise” every Saturday evening from May 2nd to October 31st. Cedar Beach also gets its fair share of cars on Saturday nights as well, although I’m not sure if it’s a regular, recurring thing. If you know of any more, let me know!
If anyone trekked out to Captree State Park this past Sunday in order to get their weekly viewing of cars, you may have been surprised when you pulled in and no one was there. The weekend of May 8th marked the beginning of the ‘beach season,’ and most of the state parks have started charging admission. It seems however, that the parking lots at Oak Beach (click for a map), are still available – which is great, as it is only about a minute away from Captree. Although the lot is much smaller than Captree’s is, a good amount of cars can still fit, here are some of the cool ones:
